In the depths of the soul, a battle wages high,
Between the love of self and the selfless sky.
Like leaves rustling in the wind's soft sigh,
We yearn for both, beneath the vast blue sky.
A heart divided, torn by two desires,
One to soar higher, fueled by earthly fires,
The other to surrender, to what love requires,
To let go of self, in selfless love's choirs.
Oh, how we wrestle, in the dark of night,
With selfish urges and the call to light,
To follow the path of love, burning bright,
And embrace the grace of Christ, pure and right.
So let us journey, through these tangled vines,
To find the peace that in selflessness shines,
To let go of self, as the sun declines,
And in Christ's love, our true self defines.
