Original Poem: A Soldier's Plea

A Soldier's Plea

Ready to stand and ready to fight,

Willing to endure the fearsome night,

Shaken though he must surely be,

A soldier finds strength on his knees.

In the face of heavy fire,

Crawling through muck and mire,

He struggles to keep his whit's about him,

Knowing each moment could be the end.

He remembers the widow's mite,

And how she gave all she had,

He recalls all the stories of the Bible,

How God's soldiers won midst test and trial.

On reverent and bended knee,

He prays for God to give him strength,

Decades later, now old and frail,

He prays once more,

God save this country from Hell!

Original Poem: We Are

We Are

We are many, God's great diversity.

We have different faces, come from different races –

our differences are the basis of God's infinite creativity.

We are viewed, as God's great preview.

With varying perspectives, having only one elective –

our widespread collective, under God's vast purview.

We are His, God's great masterpiece.

A kingdom already come, but one still yet to come –

of which the total sum, abide in God's lasting peace.

Original Poem: Convict Us Lord Jesus

Convict Us Lord Jesus

Convict us Lord Jesus, break our heart for what breaks yours.

Open our eyes to see those around us, as you do and not as chores –

a hinderance to our way of life and the busyness each day brings,

a pothole in the road we're on, in our selfish quest for minor things.

Convict us Lord Jesus, break us of our selfish pride.

Help us see what is most precious are lost people caught in finite time –

a clock that started with the fall of man and ends with the Son's return,

that should we do nothing there are souls that are destined to burn.

Convict us Lord Jesus, break our backs with guilt and shame.

Place upon us the burdens of others that by all means some might be saved –

for salvation hangs in the balance, there isn't time to lose,

and a life well spent is a life that is lived in service to you.
