What's the Point

In this life there are moments in which we find ourselves feeling disillusioned with the promises of happiness made by each “new and improved” object, program, or adventure. Its entirely possible that you have felt so much pain that you wish you'd never been born. Its also highly likely that you have experienced points in life in which you have been showered with so much good stuff that you feel a sense of security and comfort yet the reality checks of life cause you to feel unsettled, asking the question, “What's the point?” This is where Solomon often found himself. I encourage you to read Eccl. 6:1-9 to get a full picture of what Solomon is saying but here is the gist taken from that passage:

“There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, and it lies heavy on mankind... All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied.”

After reading that passage take some time to reflect and talk it over with God. Consider what is in your heart and mind that is discontent, a longing, pain, unsettling doubts. If you feel uncomfortable because you wish you could be doing something else but you feel stuck where you are, tell him about it. Then surrender it all to Jesus and trust that he alone can fill that void inside of you. He alone can be your “true north,” your contentment, the answer to your question. He is the point!
